Nina Halašová and Peter Csonka

paddling vice world champions in freestyle

Saturday program includes also a discussion with successful Slovak freestyle kayakers and their multimedia presentation.

Even though there are not many professional freestyle kayakers in Slovakia, these few are highly regarded in this sport and they achieve great successes at world competitions. Nina Halašová and Peter Csonka – couple on water as well as in life, belong among them.

At this year’s world championship in freestyle kayaking Peter ended up as the second and Nina as the fourth best. Nina is also a new champion of the Slovak Republic.

Peter Csonka will introduce himself to you not only as a kayaker and racer but also as a film-maker and director of the film Expedícia k jazeru Kariba (Expedition to Lake Kariba) in which he maps demanding expedition of a group of kayakers who as the first Slovaks managed to float down the river Zambezi from Victoria Falls up to the Lake Kariba.

Besides freestyle this couple is dedicated also to extreme kayaking on wild rivers. This year they kayaked together in Norway, which they will present in their presentation included in the Saturday afternoon program of the festival.
